How to quickly and easily find out where can I fly?
For all kinds of unmanned aircraft we recommend to use one of the following applications for pre-flight planning and for obtaining information on current airspace constraints:
- AirMap for Drones - mobile app suitable for Apple iOS and Google Android operating systems.
- DronView available at dronview.ans.cz - suitable for determining the horizontal boundaries of the planned flight and potential conflicts with various restricted and dangerous areas that are subject to dynamic activation.
How do I obtain approval of the ATC when it is required by the Supplement X of ICAO Annex 2?
It is required to send the application to the AMC unit, which belongs to the ANS CR, at least 3 working days before the intended activity. The AMC unit will process your application on the basis of desired flight parameters, mainly flight location, ATC operational conditions and desired maximum altitude above ground.
Currently, there are two possible ways of submitting an application to acquire an ATC approval:
|Submission for NSF Approval
One of the possible ways to apply and acquire an approval or ATC clearance is to proceed according to the instructions written in the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), part ENR 1.1, chapter 22.214.171.124 (lis.rlp.cz/ais_data/aip/data/valid/e1-1.pdf#page=19) - Procedures for Non-Standard Flights (NSF) in Controlled Airspace.
You can submit your applications to the email address firstname.lastname@example.org and please keep in mind that the total file size of the included attachments must not exceed 5MB. All necessary information which have to be included in the application are available in the AIP, chapter ENR 126.96.36.199.2.
Approved applications are provided with an identification number, where approval of the application does not mean an automatic clearance to fly. In the approved application, the applicant may find other requirements from the ANS CR that must be met in order to maintain required safety levels. These additional requirements may for example include a requirement to conduct telephone coordination with the ATC unit before the start of the approved flight.
Can I fly a drone at night?
Besides the classical airports designated and equipped for night traffic, according to §14 of Decree No. 108/1997 Coll. It is possible to make landings, take-offs and related activities only during the day according to the visibility rules.
What area can be used for take-offs or landings?
In §14 of Decree No. 108/1997 Coll. the area characteristics that can be used for take-off and landing are specified. However, for the operation of aviation, aviation activities for own use or for recreational and sport flying, the order stipulates the obligation to obtain for take-off and landing the written consent of the owner of the area (or the operator, as the case may be with an area designated for the operation of sporting/recreational equipment, the so-called "ultralight aircraft").
