On January 25, 2016 in Warsaw, the Air Navigation Service Providers of Poland, Lithuania, Czech Republic and Slovakia acting as a B4 Consortium since 8th of September 2014 signed the Membership Application to the SESAR Joint Undertaking (SJU).
During the last year PANSA, Oro Navigacija, ANS CR and LPS being selected as SJU Candidate-Member have prepared package of projects, which allows the Consortium to participate in the ATM European wide research and innovation programme SESAR 2020. By the end of 2016 the B4 Consortium will start elaborating Industrial research projects and very large-scale demonstration activities within the SESAR JU. The outcomes of the commonly financed projects are expected to pave the way towards the new generation air traffic management system capable of ensuring improved safety and efficiency of air transport in Europe. During their Meeting, at the same time, Magdalena Jaworska, Sergei Smirnov, Jan Klas and Miroslav Bartoš signed the new Consortium Agreement enabling those 4 ANSPs to execute collaboratively the new challenging tasks. The Agreement is appointing PANSA to perform the role of the B4 Consortium coordinator.
SESAR 2020 is the innovation and research programme that brings new ideas to the market and increases the pace of change in ATM while it stays in-line with the European Air Traffic Management Master Plan. Thanks to the participation in SESAR 2020 the B4 consortium is joining the process of preparation of infrastructure and process changes in ATM with the aim to increase the air traffic punctuality, reducing at the same time its costs and maintaining high level of safety.
